1st edition, large hardback in dj.  128 pages.  Fully illustrated in colour by John Batchelor;  a very nice copy, internally tight and clean, no previous owner marks.

Looks at the development of Airborne warfare from the early 20th century to the end of WW2.  When the Germans demonstrated how airborne troops could be used to achieve startling victories in Norway, Denmark, Holland and Crete, the Allies were quick to respond with full-scale airborne operations in Sicily and Italy and finally used airborne troops to spearhead the D day landings.

The author describes the equipment and planes used by the men in a carefully researched text, which is wonderfully complemented by the colour illustrations.
