1st edition, hardback, published by the Natural History Dept of the British Museum.  Green board covers, no dj; gilt British Museum device on front cover.  Black and white drawings throughout text, which is clean and unmarked, some age browning to pages.  Covers worn, rubbed at extremities, binding firm.

The author - an assistant in the Dept. of Botany - rewrote and expanded the Guide to Sowerby's Models of British Fungi, by W.G. Smith, to cover all the British genera of Basidiomycetes (Order I, Hymenomycetes, Order II Gasteromycetes) and also the Ascomycetes, (Order I Discomycetes, Order II Pyrenomycetes, Order III Tuberaceae)
