Large, heavy soft cover book, 1st edition thus. 284 pages with 80 exhibits illustrated in full colour photos + c.100 b&w photos and diagrams.

A very good, clean copy.  Covers show minimal shelf wear, light corner curl on front.  Internally clean and unmarked, barely discernible age discoloration at margins, no previous owner marks.

Published to coincide with the exhibition of part of the important Jan Mitchell Collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, in 1985.

The first section contains the introduction by Julie Jones, followed by the contributions of:
