An unusual and interesting 1st edition thus, with many illustrations within the abridged text and a number of pull-out plans and illustrations. Illustrations by Christopher Bradbury
A tight, clean copy, with slight soiling/ shelf wear to edges of book and dj. The book and jacket show the remains of some sellotape that was used to attach an old cover, though these are small and carefully cut as small as possible. These marks are on the inside of the hard covers and do not detract from the overall appearance. Dust jacket is now in a removable vinyl cover.
The factual illustrations give much detail of the daily life of the period and show such details as:
A map of Indian tribal territory; wigwams and tepees and their construction; English & French military uniforms; forts and stockades; tomahawks and scalping knives, clubs, bows and arrows; North American wildlife; woodsmens' equipment; Indian food and its preparation; Indian dress; totems; guns.
