Sub titled "How to combat the pests, diseases and weeds of vegetables." A scarce little book, 1st edition, board covers in dj, 48 pages. Cream board covers are clean with some wear at spine ends, mostly at the bottom where there is a small split. Stitched binding is tight. The cream dj is rubbed and worn at the edges with some loss to the top and bottom of the spine; corners are chipped and there are a few small closed tears. For a flimsy, 60 year dj it's really in pretty good condition, now in vinyl covering; also has additional price label on the front. Contents are clean and bright, no marks or inscriptions and feature 29 charming coloured plates by the American watercolour artist Dorothy Fitchew ( working early 20th century.) Contains useful information on: General Garden Enemies; pests which attack particular crops; diseases which attack particular crops; some garden weeds; friends of the garden. These categories are accompanied by the beautifully observed watercolours. A charming addition to the keen vegetable grower's book collection.
