1st edition hardback, 192 pages. A very good clean copy of this book about the life of the poet, Wilfred Owen. Light rubbing to hard cover and dj edges, light staining to extreme top corner of front end papers and c.pp1-50, similarly lower corners of pp159 onwards. Faint staining to lower closed page edges which has not transferred inside to text. Dj has water staining inside top and lower edges which has superficially affected hard covers. Front flyleaf of price clipped dj is lightly creased. Internally the text is bright, clean and unmarked, with a dedication to the previous owner on f.e.p. The first complete account of Owen's life, from his early years as a bookish, self-absorbed boy growing up in England, to his final days as an eloquent observer and protester on the horrors of war. Although a pacifist by nature, Owen reluctantly enrolled in the British Army during WWI, where he witnessed the senseless slaughter and violence of war. Nine of Owen's poems are provided at the end of the text: * Strange Meeting * The Next War * Spring Offensive * Futility * Dulce et Decorum Est * The Parable of the Old Man and the Young * The Send-Off * Miners * Anthem for Doomed Youth
