1st edition, hardback, 314 pages. Hard covers in very good condition, a small tear to edge of contents page, o/w no marks or inscriptions; dj showing some shelf wear and a little chipped at edges, otherwise clean and intact. Foreword by Robert Graves "'Teknosis' - a word coined to describe the sickness that is enveloping the human race; a progressive mental disturbance that now, through technology, threatens to destroy the world." Much of Biram's writing anticipated the problems of industrial pollution which now stare us in the face. "One Concorde taking off uses enough oxygen to supply the entire population of Switzerland..." He gives an historical perspective on the subject and then calls for controlled de-industrialisation and outlines how this may be achieved. This is a thought provoking and passionate book, written from the unique standpoint of a man who is both scientist and poet. Biram has headed up NASA projects and has had his poetry published worldwide. A very topical subject given the current preoccupation, and rightly so, with climate change and global warming.
