The author was Professor of Runology at the Royal Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities, Stockholm. His book is a survey of Swedish Runic inscriptions from the first centuries A.D. to the 20thC., and sheds light on Swedish civilisation, the growth of Christianity and Viking Age culture.
