5th imp, 2nd edition, hardback, 340 pages. B&w illustrations of the Tarot deck throughout text. A very good clean copy in similar dj. No marks or inscriptions, internally bright and clean, no previous owner marks. Waite collaberated with artist Pamela Coleman Smith, whom he met when both were members of the magical Order of the Golden Dawn, to create what are probably the most popular and widely recognised Tarot cards in use today. In this book he gives a commentary on the Tarot, explaining each card's allegorical meaning and giving the best methods of using the pack for divining the future. Waite was much influenced by Roman Catholic ceremonial and he believed in the existence of an esoteric Christian Church.
