The author was a well known American TV personality living in an apartment overlooking San Francisco Bay. She invited a tarot reader to perform at an 'astrology party' but he was unhappy with his reception and laid a curse on the house and its occupant. For the next two years a malevolent influence reigned in her house and in her life, involving acts of vandalism, a fire, an all pervasive chill in the rooms, and a personal life full of misfortune and tragedy. Pat finally called in psychic investigators and subsequently had her home exorcised. From being once an 'unbeliever' in the forces of darkness she became convinced that supernatural energies do exist, some of them malign.
